Boundless Expression…On Cue. In Rhythm. Well Spoken.

A blog about inspiring creativity in a new Language and Performing Arts Center

Auction results truly fantastique for new building

auction-invite-pg1.jpgThe 2008 Wright Spirit Auction, organized by the Parent Association, lived up to its Cest Fantastique theme.  The group met their goal of raising $500,000 at the event to support construction of the new Language and Performing Arts Center.

The fund-a-need request brought in more than $145,000 in gifts from $100 up to $40,000.   These donations were matched by a gift from Holroyd, a sand and gravel operation, and its owners Stephen and Rita Nielsen.  Stephen graduated from Charles Wright in 1974.  His brothers David ’73 and Mark ’79 are also CWA alums.  Stephen and his wife Rita have a set of twins in the eighth grade here – Decker and Alex.

The Parent Association still has a few items left over which they are selling at the Tarrier House.  There are some gift certificates and beautiful centerpieces from the auction designed by Christopher Hoppin.  In addition, the Parent Association is selling tickets for two unique events:

The Caddy Shack Scramble will be held Saturday, October 4, at noon at the Oakbrook Country Club in Lakewood.  You can join CWA parents on this private course for lots of fun in the fall sun.  For $150 you get 18 holes of golf, a cart, a barbecue dinner after the tournament and tee-prizes.

At Party Fantastiuqe you’ll enjoy an evening of festive entertainment at the incredible Villa Madera.  Tapas-style food will be prepared by CWA parent and James Beard Award-winning chef, Monique Barbeau.  Wine educator Ron Newark will conduct a food and wine pairing demonstration.  Guests will listen to strolling minstrels and perhaps kick up their heels a little.  How long has it been since you had your fortune read or partied with a mime in the midst?  Treat yourself to a night to remember: May 31, 2007, 7pm to 10pm.  Tickets are $100.
