Charles Wright alum Nicolai Wohns ’03 has been named one of the Puget Sound region’s finest young classical musicians.  He and five others will be featured in a Winners’ Recital presented by the Tacoma Philharmonic this month.  Wohns, a violinist, is now a student at Northwestern University and is taught by Gerardo Ribeiro.

The Winners’ Recital will feature individual performances by the six winners of the 2008  Beatrice Herrmann Young Artist Recital Competition, which was held at the University of Puget Sound on April 6.  Adjudicators for the competition finals included Harvey Felder, Music Director of the Tacoma Symphony, Leonard Richter, Professor of Music at Walla Walla College, and Charles Noble, violist with the Oregon Symphony.  The competition was open to musicians up to age 24 from the Puget Sound region.
