Read the rest of this entry » CWA to form partnership with Boys and Girls ClubsJanuary 25th, 2008Charles Wright is forming a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound. Initially, this partnership will involve two strands: collaborating on community service opportunities and working together to bring high financial need students to the school. Support for this collaboration is being provided by a generous gift to the school’s endowment from the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation. Read the rest of this entry »

I attended public school in grades K-4, and my older daughter attended a public school in kindergarten and first grade. Nevertheless, I know that a strong public school system benefits everyone, even those of us whose lives only minimally intersect with the public education sector. I always look forward to these first days. While I am as ready as anyone else to pick up my feet just a bit at the end of a school year, it’s not too long into a summer before the buildings empty of kids and teachers leave me feeling a bit lonely.
