Volleyball players develop as a team

dsc_0088-1.JPGThe Charles Wright volleyball team finished their season with a 3-12 record, but the athletic department expects the win-lose ratio will tilt in Charles Wright’s favor as the young team develops.  “We are progressively turning a corner in our program and getting to a point where we are able to raise the expectations to play varsity volleyball,” says Coach Mindy McGrath.

The 14 members of the volleyball squad beat Tacoma Baptist, Orting and Life Christian this season.  McGrath says the team developed a more competitive practice atmosphere this year and saw the benefits of this in many ways.

“I have been very impressed with the maturity of the team this season,” she said.  “It takes a lot of hard work and sometimes girls never see the game court.  The girls really understand what it takes to be a team player and the level of selflessness and humility you must have.  Although we did not collect many ‘Ws’ we made great strides toward developing the program and creating some momentum that will hopefully be infectious and encourage the girls to train in the off-season.”
