Parents busy in Tarrier Dome as Wright Stuff nears

img_7900-1.JPGThe Charles Wright Parent Association is working in overdrive this week, preparing for this weekend’s annual Wright Stuff rummage sale.  Last Saturday, volunteers loaded and unloaded trucks, stacked boxes, tossed bags, and got all the merchandise under one roof.  On Sunday, tables were set up in each section and parents began tackling the challenge of organizing all those treasures.  All this week, volunteers are folding, stacking and arranging the goods with care.

Cross Country team brings home first state win of the year

boysawards.jpgCharles Wright has its first state athletic award of the 2007-2008 school year, thanks to the cross country team.  After winning the league title and the District title, the boys’ team placed third in the state on Saturday, November 3, in Pasco.  The girls’ team did not have enough members to qualify for a team title, but three runners placed in the state’s top 13.

League champion tennis team looking for another state title

2007-09-20.jpgThe Charles Wright boys’ tennis team won the Nisqually league title outright this year, after sharing the honor in 2007 with Vashon High School.  The team went 8-0 this year with four rainouts during a very rainy fall.

Comedy carnival showcases unusually talented cast

dsc00523-1.JPGThe Charles Wright Players have done it again.  Their production of A Thurber Carnival debuted last night to a packed house in the Upper School music room.  The cast of ten and crew of six put on a spectacular show in about a dozen different scenes, all short scripts written by James Thurber.  Each scene is really quite absurd and quite funny, so if you’ve ever enjoyed Saturday Night Live, you’re going to love this show.

Charles Wright alum now a TV heartthrob

Volleyball players develop as a team

dsc_0088-1.JPGThe Charles Wright volleyball team finished their season with a 3-12 record, but the athletic department expects the win-lose ratio will tilt in Charles Wright’s favor as the young team develops.  “We are progressively turning a corner in our program and getting to a point where we are able to raise the expectations to play varsity volleyball,” says Coach Mindy McGrath.
