Tarriers win! Charles Wright’s boys’ basketball team will play for the state championship tomorrow for the first time in school history. Tonight they beat Bellevue Christian, the 23-2 team expected to win the state title, by a final score of 54-52. It’s their seventh straight post-season victory. The Tarriers will face fourth-ranked River View Saturday at 7:00p.m. in the SunDome.

The Charles Wright boys’ basketball team continued its record breaking season last night beating Granger, 51-43. They’re the first Tarrier team to win a bi-district championship and the first to enter the state tournament as a top seed. Now, they’re also the first to win 20 games in one season and the first to make it to the state semi-finals.
The Tarriers have had high expectations for themselves all year, but the state sports reporters weren’t entirely impressed. When the state tournament began earlier this week, an Associated Press poll didn’t even rank them in the top ten teams. Now the Tarriers are guaranteed at least a sixth place finish and they are just won win away from the championship game.

The Charles Wright boys’ basketball team won their first game at the state tournament in Yakima this evening by a huge margin, 55-24, and will advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow. The 7:00p.m. 9:00p.m. game will be played against Granger, a team that upset ninth ranked Lake Roosevelt earlier today. Granger is just 27 miles from Yakima and they’ll be playing to a largely home town crowd.

The most powerful way to get into what you’re learning is to get out. Get out into nature, into the community, and into the world. That’s why every high school student at Charles Wright Academy the last week participating in Winterim, a unique experiential education program that broadens students’ understanding of the world.
They went to France and Guatemala, hiked across the desert Southwest, made kids laugh in the hospital, built a fence for Habitat for Humanity, learned to blow glass, build Adirondack chairs, and so much more!

The 2008 Washington State 1A Boys’ Basketball Tournament is underway in Yakima and the Tarriers drew the last game of the day. They’ll play Winlock at 9:00p.m. tonight in the SunDome.

The varsity boys’ basketball team made Charles Wright history this past weekend and they’re not done yet. For the first time in the school’s basketball history, the Tarriers are the Northwest/West Central 1A bi-district champions after winning four huge games in a row.
“Many of our opponents this season, including Seattle Christian, Cascade Christian and Vashon were talked about as heir apparent to not only the bi-district championship but also the State title,” said Coach Tyler Francis.

Brady Christoph’s second grade class really got to the heart of the matter on Valentines Day. With the help of Dr. David Schachter, a Charles Wright parent and a cardiologist at Madigan Army Medical Center, the students dissected sheep hearts to learn more about the circulatory system and the strength of the heart. The project was part of the second grade’s study of health and nutrition. Metropolitan Market in the Proctor district donated the hearts.

Charles Wright’s boys’ basketball team has won its two post season games and is now just one win away from a trip to the State 1A Tournament in Yakima.
The Tarriers beat Cascade Christian on Saturday, February 16, by a score of 54 to 47, earning a third place finish in the Nisqually League at the 1A West Central District Tournament. On Wednesday, February 20, Charles Wright beat Friday Harbor 56-41 in the 1A West Central-Northwest District Tournament.

The Charles Wright boys’ basketball team wrapped up their regular season last week with a very respectable 14-6 season record and a 7-5 league record. Saturday, February 16, they’ll play their first post season game, a do-or-die match up against Cascade Christian. The game is at 1:30pm on the campus of Seattle Christian. A win on Saturday will earn the Tarriers a third place finish in the Nisqually league.
