Wright Back At Ya

The latest and greatest news from Charles Wright Academy

It’s the first day of school at CWA

Today is the first day of classes at Charles Wright and the beginning of the school’s 51st year.  For the next nine months, 730 students will call this campus home.  As one Upper School student commented, “It’s a great day to be a Tarrier!”

The first day of school is always most exciting for Beginning Schoolers and Kindergarteners.  A few tears were shed in the Lower School halls – more by parents than students – and then teachers Karen Burdick, Suzy Ebalo, Catherine Grider, and Turi Janes shepherded them off to a busy day of activities.  By lunch they were all well acclimated and had already made many new friends.

The Upper School kicked off the new year with an assembly. Upper School Head Bill White welcomed the students back with the news that the 82 members of the Class of 2009 are the largest senior class in school history.

Meanwhile, CWA’s sixth, seventh and eighth graders started the year at a three-day Middle School Camp.  They’ll be back on campus tomorrow.
