History’s a rap for eighth graders
Headmaster Rob Camner likes to say that people at Charles Wright take seriously what they do but don’t take themselves too seriously. Nowhere is that more true than in the Middle School. There that Tarrier spirit extends to the entire student body and these student-produced videos are proof positive of that fact.
Fritz J., Chase H., and Collin H. started rapping about world history in Susan Sparrow’s eighth grade history class. Click here to watch Fritz’ video about Stalin’s Five-Year Plan on YouTube.
Stalin rap lyrics:
Stalin was a genius man,
devised a second five year plan
from 33-37,
Stalin led it, replacing Lenin
Industry went up sky high,
Stalin’s plan was lookin’ fly
new products grew enormously
like chemicals and metallurgy
Railways linked every city
Things were going splendidly
but even with the industrial rise
Stalin’s plan didn’t go as devised
Livestock fell dramatically,
oil and coal failed miserably,
all in all it went ok
but didn’t always go Stalin’s way.
Fritz got such a great response from his online viewers that he wrote a rap about the African Union after representing the A.U. at his class’ mock Berlin Conference. Click here to watch the video.
The African Union rap lyrics:
The African Union
Formed in ‘02
Took over from the criticized OAU
Protecting the security
Thoroughly
Surely
Africa’s peacekeeping comes thirdly
53 Countries in the African Union
Morroco is the only one that is excluded
European colonizers
came in two spurts
The motives and direction were
sectioned in thirds
Civilization, commerce, Christianity
The second spurt three were
God, Gold and Glory
The Europeans divided some countries
into classes
Part of the reason
for all the genocidal clashes
Wealthier countries should
tax their citizens
some Africans need it
For things like medicine
Well, I guess I ran out
of things to say
The African Union does its job
day by day.
Beau I., Jack S., and Austin K. are in Sparrow’s class too. They created a cool Lego reenactment of Bloody Sunday for their final project on the Russian Revolution. Click here to check it out.
