Wright Back At Ya

The latest and greatest news from Charles Wright Academy

CWA band needs your vote!

The halls of the Upper School have been buzzing this week with the rumor that the Seahawks drum line, Blue Thunder, might perform at Charles Wright’s homecoming on October 17.  We’re happy to report that rumor is absolutely true!  CWA students Kate Ellwanger, Alex King, Angela Yang and a host of other stomping, clapping, back-up-singing students have recorded their own version of Ben Lee’s song “Catch My Disease.”  Now they’re out trying to catch Blue Thunder on a Seattle radio station.  But, and here’s the catch, they need your votes!

Here’s the scoop.  KIRO radio is running a contest this week for high school bands.  Between 8pm and 10pm tonight (Tuesday) on KIRO 710AM and 97.3FM they will broadcast three versions of the song “Catch My Disease” recorded by students at Charles Wright Academy, Curtis High School and Newport High School.  The segment is part of Luke Burbank’s show, Too Beautiful Too Live (TBTL), which has adopted the song as its theme.

Between 8pm tonight and Friday, October 10, at noon, fans can vote online for their favorite version of the song at KIRO radio’s website: click here! Needless to say, Curtis and Newport High Schools have significantly bigger student-bodies than Charles Wright and the Tarriers will need all the support they can win this contest and cash in on the big prize – an appearance by the Seahawks drum line at the homecoming game.

Please tune in tonight to 710 AM or 97.3FM after the debate to hear the debut of the Tarriers rendition of “Catch My Disease.”  Then go vote for the CWA band at www.mynorthwest.com.  We don’t know yet if individuals can vote more than once, so please pass the word to everyone you know.

Special credit for this project goes to CWA Chaplain Mike Moffitt for a super job recording and producing the song, to Kate Ellwanger for an amazing job on lead vocals, and to Katy Macdonald’s yoga class for the back-up vocals.

Go Green!
