Rummage sale needs volunteers

Twenty-thousand-square-feet of fun! If you like a bargain, then you will love the annual Wright Stuff Rummage Sale. Quality clothing, books, toys, household items, furniture, sporting goods, antiques and much more will be sold at extremely low prices in the Tarrier Dome on Saturday, November 8 from 8am to 3pm and Sunday, November 9 from 10am to 2pm. The CWA Parent Association hopes to raise $50,000 to $60,000 with the sale to support construction of the new Language and Performing Arts Center.

Volunteers are in the last week of sorting at the farmhouse. It’s their last chance to price and pack the multitudes of contributions that will be sold.  It’s a frenzy unlike the rest of the year, and it’s still great fun and treasure-hunting.

Starting Saturday, Wright Stuff will move to the Tarrier Dome to set it all up for a fabulous sale. It begins with “load-in” where we move boxes of merchandise and set up the tables and racks. Ken Whitney invites all Tarrier Dads to join him for this effort on Saturday, followed by poker at the Tarrier House (see last Friday’s parent e-newsletter for details).

Setup continues all week, so please drop by and lend a hand. An event like this is a great way to connect with other parents, parents of alumni, faculty, and staff. Lunch is served all week, so please stop in!

CWA families are encouraged to come shop at the sale and are also asked to volunteer in the days leading up to the big event with sorting and set-up, and volunteer the weekend of the event with sales and take-down. Volunteers who work at least eight hours before or during the sale are eligible to attend the presale on Friday afternoon. Those who work at least 25 hours can shop the VIP presale.
