So much has been happening at Charles Wright the last few weeks that we almost skipped right over the production of Hamlet, the last winter musical staged in the Upper School’s old West Wing performing arts room. It was a great show with a cast and crew of more than 30 students.
During rehearsals for the show, cast and crew had the opportunity to tour the new Language and Performing Arts Center. “This is our final show in this space before we move into our beautiful new building next year, and I wanted to go out with a bang,” wrote Drama Teacher John Forier in the program notes. “I am soooo looking forward to that move, but I will still miss this old, cardboard study hall. And so, Hamlet… our way, as always, just because. I hope we send this old theatre out in style.”

There’s no better way to close out Winterim week on Tuesday night than by truck’n up to Bellevue Christian to watch the first game of the Tri-District Boys Basketball Tournament. The game starts at 7pm and the address is 1601 98th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students.
If you can’t make the drive North, you can keep up to the minute on game action by clicking here. We’re using Twitter for the first time because wireless internet is not available in Bellevue Christian’s gym. You do not need a user name or password to visit the site, but if you’re a Twitter user, you can “follow” CWATarriers to get the latest game news in your Twitter feed on your computer or cell phone. We look forward to using this technology to cover outdoor sports this spring!

Charles Wright’s state champion Knowledge Bowl team is on the move this year. After requesting permission for the past three years to compete against larger schools with up to 1,000 students, CWA finally secured approval this year to compete at the state 2A tournament. The Tarriers have won the state 1A championship four times in the last five years, but this won’t be the first time they’ve competed against teams from big schools. During the regular season, Knowledge Bowl teams compete against schools in their area regardless of size. So far this year CWA has beaten Curtis High School twice in close competition as well as outscoring Evergreen Lutheran, Fife, Stadium, Lakes, Peninsula, Washington and Clover Park.
