Track and tennis athletes headed to state
CWA did very well at the girls tennis district tournament and quad-district track and field meet. CWA’s doubles team of Sarina Halankar and Megan Kelley won the district doubles title with a score of 7-5, 6-4 in their final match of the day. Singles player Sara Finkleman plays today for third place and a chance to compete at the state match in Yakima with Halankar and Kelley. At the track meet at King’s, 15 CWA athletes qualified for Saturday’s finals. The final round of a few events were held on Thursday and the following athletes have already qualified for the state meet in Cheney May 29 and 30: Jeff Crabill and Max Laberge in the 1600m, Ishmael Stinson in the triple jump and Caitlin Bunning in the javelin throw.
