New building nearly finished

Construction of the new CWA Language and Performing Arts Center has reached the finishing phase.  The school’s English, foreign language, drama and music teachers are thrilled with their new classrooms, offices and performing spaces.  The acoustics of the new facility are particularly impressive.

Crews from Rushforth Construction are sanding the drywall this week and painting most of the building.  Paneling has been installed in the black-box theater and will soon be installed along hallways throughout the building.  Ceiling panels, doors and lighting will also be installed soon.  Cement will be pored this week for the new pavilion between the Language and Performing Arts Center and Upper School.  Sod will be installed just in time for graduation. Bricks are being laid for the new outdoor amphitheater as well.  Construction should be complete in late June and exterior work will be wrapping up in July as parking lots are paved and the landscaping is completed.

Meanwhile, fundraising to pay for the new facility continues.  Nearly $8 million has been pledged to date.  In May, the Parents Association presented a check for $275,000, raised through the annual Wright Stuff rummage sale and Wright Spirit auction.  It’s a big step toward their goal to raise $2 million for the building.
