Ties announces Laughlin and Haertl to be honored this fall

Ties-Cover-for-WebCWA just might be the hardest school you ever love.  In the latest issue of Ties, parents, teachers, alums and college admissions officers share their perspectives on just what all that work is worth.  Contributing writers on this topic include B. Scott Williams ’91, Pam Jewson, Rob Camner, Kate Riede, Rob Scotlan, Lydia Valentine, Lizzie Jewson ’07, Eric Bergman ’02, Ian Bergman ’99, Kate Jewson ’12, Toby Murray ’71 and Andrew Evans ’05.

Charles Wright is also making two big announcements in this issue:

The black box theater in the new Language and Performing Arts Center will be named in honor of Donn Laughlin and you are all invited to buy a ticket for the very first show in the theater on Saturday, September 12.  It’s an all-ages cabaret-style show, directed by Andrew Evans ’05 and starring a cast of CWA alums.  Buy your tickets today!

The stadium field on which football and soccer games are played will be named this fall in honor of long-time CWA football coach, teacher and Headmaster E. Bruce Haertl.  You don’t want to miss the 2009 Homecoming on Friday, October 23, when Haertl Field will be dedicated and three new members inducted into the CWA Athletic Hall of Fame.  This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are Troy Bloedel ’81, Kristen Schriver ’85 and Zack Daniels ’98.

Of course, the back-to-school issue of Ties wouldn’t be complete without Class Notes and the 2008-2009 Annual Report.  Many thanks to all those who supported the Charles Wright during the last school year.
