CWA mourns the loss of Headmaster Bob Minnerly

minnerly sizedThis evening CWA Headmaster Rob Camner emailed faculty, staff and board members to share the sad news that Bob Minnerly, his predecessor, passed away today.  Minnerly served as CWA’s Headmaster from 1986 to 1996.

CWA recently dedicated the school’s baseball field in his honor.  Click here to learn more about the dedication.

Here is the text of Camner’s email:

Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to let you know that we just learned from his daughter that Bob Minnerly passed away today after battling several serious illnesses over the past few months.  His daughter Sydney wrote the following earlier today:

“Thank you for all of your friendships you have given my parents and we greatly appreciate all of your support and well wishes during this long fought battle. There were just too many wars going on and not enough troop support…although he fought as long as he could.”

Bob will be remembered for his outgoing, warm personality and his generosity of spirit.  He led the school as Headmaster during the difficult economic circumstances of the late1980s and early 1990s and set the stage through his hard work for the successes the school has enjoyed in the nearly decade and a half since his retirement.  He will be sorely missed.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Services will be held in Texas, where the Minnerlys made their home for the last few years.  Details will be forthcoming shortly.

Rob

There are few people in this world quite as wonderful as Bob. What a heck of a guy, mentor, and friend. He will be missed greatly. I will never forget working on the Middle School campaign when Bob literally begged to operate the backhoe for the groundbreaking… Although we likely broke several rules/codes about who could run the machinery– there was no way we were going to tell him no. Bob sat on that backhoe proudly with a big ole stogey in his mouth! Happy as all can be. So many wonderful memories. I am blessed to have known him.

I read with great sorrow the passing of Bob Minnerly. I have served in education for many years, and believe that Bob was one of the finest educators I have met. His cheerful attitude, his wonderful smile, his happy disposition accompanied a brilliant career in school leadership and will long be remembered. God bless his memory, and prayers and comfort to his family.
