Struxness gets 30-year pin, three others retire

struxness.jpgOnce a year, Charles Wright’s faculty and staff gather to celebrate their colleagues’ service to the school at the annual Employee Recognition event.  Pins are awarded to those with five, ten, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years and service and goodbyes are said to those departing at the end of the academic year.

Nominations sought for Inspirational Faculty Award

cwa-logo-right-stack-rgb.jpegThe CWA Parent Association is now accepting nominations for the prestigious 2008 Inspirational Faculty Award.  The award will be presented at graduation and faculty members consider it one of the highest honors they may receive during their careers.  Nominations may be made by faculty peers, parents, students or alumni through Friday, May 9.

Wright Stuff hosts formalwear sale for prom goers

brookes-pictures-115_edited.jpgLife still goes on at the farmhouse, as Parent Association volunteers continue to sort and price donated goods for next November’s Wright Stuff Rummage Sale.  Our exciting breaking news is that Wright Stuff will host a formalwear sale in honor of prom! Upper Schoolers should stop by the US commons on Wednesday, March 26, and see the new and gently-used gowns and tuxes we have accumulated. You can’t beat the prices – items from $8 to $30. Cash and checks accepted, so come ready to shop!

WANTED: Your rummage for the next sale!

img_7899-1.JPGThe Charles Wright Parent Association put on a record-breaking rummage sale this weekend.  Shoppers started lining up at 6a.m. on Saturday morning and by the time the doors opened at 9a.m. the line stretched all the way from the doors of the Tarrier Dome to the gravel student parking lot.

Parents busy in Tarrier Dome as Wright Stuff nears

img_7900-1.JPGThe Charles Wright Parent Association is working in overdrive this week, preparing for this weekend’s annual Wright Stuff rummage sale.  Last Saturday, volunteers loaded and unloaded trucks, stacked boxes, tossed bags, and got all the merchandise under one roof.  On Sunday, tables were set up in each section and parents began tackling the challenge of organizing all those treasures.  All this week, volunteers are folding, stacking and arranging the goods with care.

Wright Stuff sells new stuff too

treasures-bugexplorefront.JPGExtra hours were added to the regular farmhouse schedule this week. In addition to sorting all day on Wednesday, volunteers were working away Monday and Thursday afternoon as well. This will continue up to the sale, so stop by when you have 15 minutes to spare!

Freshmen help Parent Association prepare for rummage sale

Students were put to work hanging clothing on hangers, breaking down boxes, inventorying sale supplies, polishing silver, testing and counting toy parts, and numerous other tasks. A hearty thanks to our youthful crew today!
